Early Years Settings
Working with Number Train is a fantastic way for early years settings to provide enrichment opportunities for their children. All of our Number Train staff have a background in primary education, and have designed an engaging programme tailored to satisfy all areas of the EYFS curriculum, not just numeracy.
The Number Train staff will plan, prepare and resource everything needed for each session, so the only thing you’ll need to provide is a suitable space. A typical session will include music, movement and games to introduce the children to numbers in a fun and interactive way, but also to help them develop a wide range of skills such as sharing, increasing confidence, resilience, team work and school readiness.
Number Train classes provide a great opportunity to observe and photograph the children in order to update learning journals, and to share the children’s experiences with parents. In addition, after each session, Number Train will provide you with a skills overview document, detailing what we have covered in the class. This can be used in your own reporting, as well as being shared directly with parents.
“Our Nursery pupils and staff really look forward to our Number Train sessions. The engaging, themed sessions, blending movement and music, captivate our children. We’ve witnessed a remarkable increase in confidence and collaborative skills. The team’s passion is infectious, making learning an exciting adventure. It’s been wonderful to witness the progress our youngest learners have made in a short time. We have used these sessions in school to invite parents in to share learning, build relationships and showcase the high quality sessions accessed by our children,”

How does it work?
Usually, a typical Number Train session would last for 45 minutes and is ideal for up to 15 children in each session, but this can be tailored to suit your specific setting. The activities are generally recommended for children aged 2.5 and over, but obviously this depends on the individuals, and we are very happy to work with younger children if you feel they will be able to participate.
Ideally, Number Train works best when it is delivered to the same group of children each week, as we have designed a progressive programme, where we build on skills week by week. However, some nurseries opt for a fortnightly/ monthly session, or book an occasional Number Train class on a specific theme to fit in with their own planning. An example of this might be a session to tie in with World Book Day, or cultural events like Chinese New Year.
We know that Number Train brings so many benefits to young children and are keen to find a way to work with you that fits within your budget. Pricing is generally dependent on the length of session and size of class, but we are very happy to discuss a bespoke package for your setting, whether that’s a one off special, or a regular weekly slot. Some nurseries/ pre-schools cover the costs of the sessions as part of their all-inclusive packages, whilst others ask interested parents to sign up and then pay us directly, with the early years setting simply acting as a facilitator. You can contact us here to get in touch and discuss your requirements further so we can suggest a package that fulfils your individual needs.
“Number Train has been a fantastic addition to our childcare setting! The children absolutely love the engaging activities. It’s made learning about numbers, matching, and counting so much fun. We’ve seen a real improvement in their understanding of these concepts. Additionally, the staff have effectively used the skills and knowledge gained from Number Train in other activities throughout our general provision, enhancing the overall learning experience for our little ones! “
