Number Train Driver – Wetherby and South Harrogate area

Hi, my name is Rachel Carr and I am the driver of Number Train for Wetherby and South Harrogate area.

I grew up and lived in Moortown, North Leeds, until I left in 2002 to study Primary Education at Sheffield Hallam University.

After graduating, I returned to live in North Leeds and worked at the same Primary School in South Leeds, for 19 years, teaching a range of year groups from Year 1 to Year 6.

Before driving the Number Train, I attended Annette’s classes as a parent, with the youngest of my 3 daughters. Once she started school, I was thrilled to join the Number Train team as a class leader, in November 2022.

Number Train Driver – Otley, Ilkley and surrounding areas

Hi, my name is Cathryn Smith and I am the driver of Number Train for Otley, Ilkley and surrounding areas.

I grew up locally in Otley, before moving to Horsforth where I now live with my partner and two train-mad boys aged 9 and 6!

I worked for many years as a nursery nurse in Ilkley, before training as a primary school teacher at Leeds Beckett University, specialising in Early Years.

After graduating in 2011, I worked across Early Years until 2021, before leaving to spend time with my children, which is when I discovered Number Train, attending classes with my youngest!

After my youngest child went to school I decided I wasn’t ready to leave our favourite preschool group and decided to come on board and drive the Number Train myself, my own children can’t believe it! I really am living my best life!

Number Train Driver – North Bradford

Hi, my name is Jessica Mulholland, and I am thrilled to become the newest Number Train driver for North Bradford. 

Originally from Greater Manchester, I moved to Leeds in 2005 to study Primary Education at Leeds Beckett University, graduating in 2009. Over the years, I’ve loved my work as a primary school teacher across Bradford and Leeds, teaching Early Years, Key Stage One, and Key Stage Two. My connection with Number Train began as a parent, attending classes with my sons and watching them thrive.

Joining the Number Train team feels like the perfect next step, and I can’t wait to bring these fun, dynamic sessions to families in North Bradford!

Number Train Driver – Doncaster

Hi, my name is Ellie Birkinshaw and I am the Number Train driver for Doncaster.

I grew up in Wetherby before moving to Leeds in 2008 to study Primary Education at Leeds Beckett University. After graduating, I spent the next few years teaching in the Leeds area and working at a Summer camp in America. In 2016, I moved to Vietnam to teach English before finally settling in Doncaster and enjoying teaching Key Stage One here ever since.

I discovered Number Train by attending classes with the eldest of my two girls (and my 1-year-old in tow!) I couldn’t believe the progress my daughter made with her maths and how much both my girls loved the classes. I jumped at the opportunity to bring Number Train to Doncaster and I can’t wait to get started!

Number Train Driver – Stockton-On-Tees

Hi, my name is Louise Hadfield and I am the new Number Train driver for Stockton-on-Tees! I am also a mum of 3, aged 12, 11 and 6.

I grew up in Manchester and moved to Stockton to study Psychology at Durham University in 2004. I loved working with children learning English during the summer and decided to complete a PGCE in Primary Education in 2008 at Durham University. For the last 17 years I have been a teacher in Nursery to Year 6 at two different schools in Durham and Stockton. 

My passion has always been maths, having previously been Maths Lead at my first school. When I first heard about Number Train I knew I had finally found my next step after teaching, something new and exciting that would allow me to enjoy the parts of teaching I love, building the foundations for children to love maths.

I am so excited to be bringing Number Train to Stockton-on-Tees and I can’t wait to get started!

Number Train Driver – Wakefield

Hi, my name is Liz Harrington and I am the driver of Number Train Wakefield.

Originally from Rothwell, Leeds, I moved to Wakefield 12 years ago, where I still live with my husband and little boy. I studied Early Childhood Education at Leeds Beckett University and have taught across Early Years and Key Stage 1 for over 14 years.

I first discovered Number Train through another driver, Rachel, who I previously worked with. Watching her sessions and seeing the joy and confidence it brought to children really inspired me. So in 2025, I decided to leave the classroom and take my love of learning in a new direction, bringing maths to life in a fun, hands-on way through Number Train. 

I’m thrilled to be part of Number Train and can’t wait to help children build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of maths!

Number Train Driver – Leicestershire North

Hi, my name is Vicky, and I am delighted to become the newest Number Train driver for Leicestershire North.

Originally from Leicestershire, I moved to Leeds to study and completed my Primary Education PGCE in 2016. For the last 10 years, I have worked as a primary school teacher, teaching across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and as Maths lead.

I have always loved helping children grow in confidence and enjoyment through learning. When I attended Annette’s classes with my daughter she absolutely thrived during the sessions, we both loved going to the classes and still talk about them now!

After recently relocating back to the Midlands, I am so excited to become part of Number Train and to bring the fun-packed sessions to the families of Leicestershire.
